Daily Walk - August 3

I've been walking regularly through the neighborhoods that I'm staying in. The first day I walked by this fountain I was a little dumbfounded. Looks really nice and then I realized maybe the tub is not supposed to be above ground?
We each have different points of view. What's right to one person is not necessarily right to another. I'm very thankful to be a citizen of a country where we can disagree and not go to jail, be beaten, or killed for our opposing points of view.
I'm sad though for the current state of affairs that seems to be steering us away from these freedoms.

I've been around internationals, immigrants, and refugees for many years now working for them and having good friendships among them. I've also been on that side of necessity with health care having low income and a pre-existing condition. I have had marketplace insurance for 3 years now whereas I otherwise couldn't have anything that would properly cover my necessary doctor visits and testing. My income was so low the first year that I only paid $27 per month for the insurance. These factors combined with listening to my friend's parents who are retired M's who supported the last president have further reminded to open my eyes and ears and shut my mouth. I cannot learn if I am not listening. I cannot gain understanding if I keep tight that which has been defined by my limited world.  I hold fast to the Word of God and keep it close to my heart so that I may appropriately filter and discern new information and new experiences. I don't oppose these things. As I said above, I watch and I listen to gain understanding. I do not oppose new things but filter through my firm foundation to see that which is good and right.

These life experiences have also really lead me to go back to that which I learned from To Kill a Mockingbird in 9th grade - "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it." Then I think of what the Bible says about judging others - Matthew 7:1-2 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Therefore...

I cannot judge this homeowner's choice to leave the tub above ground. He or she may have a good reason that I don't yet know about. Salvation is not dependent on the minor things, so I leave room for understanding and peace.
